Marlena Skidmore Olsen
June 8, 1956 — September 30, 2025

Marlena Skidmore Olsen, 69, of Cobleskill, New York died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at her home.

Born on June 8, 1956, in Niskayuna, NY, she was the daughter of Elmore S. Lawyer and Ethel Brewster Lawyer. She was a lifelong resident of the local area.

Marlena worked as a security guard for the Galesi Group in Rotterdam for over 30 years, until her retirement.

She was a member of Fusion Community Church.

Marlena was also a member of TOPS, Cobleskill Eagles, Cobleskill Elks, and Scho Co Scope. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, and dog, Milo.

In August 2024, Marlena was married to Geruld E. Olsen at Fusion Community Church.

She is survived by her husband, Geruld E. Olsen of Cobleskill, NY; dog, Milo; brother, Elmore "Butch" Lawyer and Elaine of Howes Cave, NY; sister, Sharlene Fanning of Virginia; sister-in-law, Francine Lawyer of Howes Cave, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 10:00-12:00PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043 with a funeral service to follow at Noon. Interment will take place in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
